Pink Makeup for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I've been planning to talk about the Breast Cancer in my blog this October but I didn't know how to do it. I wanted to raise awareness in an interesting way, with some makeup involved. Eventually, I came with the idea to create Pink Makeup Look especially for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and once I have your attention to share some important information too.

how to prevent breast cancer

Last Friday and Saturday (27th, 28th of October) from 4 pm to 10 pm the UAE organisation Pink Caravan had an event on JBR for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was a very pinkish set up with few activities for kids and women and of course one of them was free examinations by a doctor. I went quite late, but I got the check up done and I was also taught by a very kind lady how to do it myself at home and how to recognise the first signs of breast cancer. It was my first visit that's why I was super curious and excited to learn everything. Thank God, it turned out that it's not very difficult, you just have to know how to do it and what to look for. But since I am not a doctor, I prefer to share with you links to reliable sources instead of telling you what I've learn yesterday. Scroll down for more info.

How to prevent breast cancer?
"While you canโ€™t change some breast cancer risk factors โ€“ family history and aging, for example โ€“ there are others that you can control. Having a family history of breast cancer increases your risk, but most women who get breast cancer (about 8 out of 10) do not have it in the family. Although there is no sure way to prevent breast cancer, there are things you can do that may lower your likelihood of getting it โ€“ whether you have a family history or not. " Here're few of them:
1. Watch your weight.
2. Exercise regularly.
3. Limit time spend sitting.
4. Avoid or limit hormone replacement therapy.
5. Have a low intake of saturated fat and alcohol.
6. Breastfeed your child.
7. Quit smoking.

Breast Cancer

Signs and Symptoms
Have a look at the pink picture above. I took it yesterday at the event, any of these unusual changes in the breast can be a symptom of breast cancer.

But also keep in mind that breast cancer may not cause any symptoms!!
"A lump may be too small for you to feel or to cause any unusual changes you can notice on your own. Often, an abnormal area turns up on a screening mammogram (X-ray of the breast), which leads to further testing. In some cases, however, the first sign of breast cancer is a new lump or mass in the breast that you or your doctor can feel. A lump that is painless, hard, and has uneven edges is more likely to be cancer. But sometimes cancers can be tender, soft, and rounded. So it's important to have anything unusual checked by your doctor. "

How to do the self examinations at home?
This is another picture that I took yesterday. It shows how to do the examinations at home, but I looked for a video in YouTube because I think it will be more helpful. Unfortunately, I couldn't share here for some reason the one that gives in my opinion the best information, but you can click on this link and watch it in YouTube.

And of course here's the makeup tutorial for the look from the first picture. xx I hope that was helpful.
